Windows

The industry word “estimating” doesn’t apply to windows.

A window takeoff is a hard count…and there is no reason for a mistake.

We use a two step method to count and spec’ the windows on the plan.

  1. The “Walk-Around” Sheet. We walk around the house by floor, listing every window by room and location. In addition to listing the windows as drawn, we look for...6 9/16” jambs…tempered glass requirements…stud pockets…situations where things just don’t line up…comments on special order units…etc.

  2. The Order Sheet. When we have tripled checked the walk-around sheet, we consolidate the windows onto one (or several) sheets so you can get your bids.

  3. When needed, we will use multiple order sheets to separate “off-the-shelf” units from special orders like casement windows and “built-up” units with segment heads and special transoms.
