At $4.50 a panel, OSB for wall and roof sheathing was not a big line item in the framing budget. At $12.00 a panel things are different.The special sheathings like ZIP, Tech Shield, and Radiant barrier have always been expensive.
The heavier roofing materials like 40 year shingles, slate, and tile require thicker sheathings. Flat roofs and membrane roofs also require special sheathings, sometimes special order materials up to 1” thick.
